Cambodia Cookstove Project | Social Impact Credits

Transforming Cooking in Cambodia
The hRos Cookstoves Project is changing daily life in Cambodian households by commercializing the Khmer Rocket Stove (KhRoS)—a clean, energy-efficient stove that saves time, reduces fuel use, and improves indoor air quality. Developed with Hydrologic Social Enterprise and supported by UNCDF’s Clean Start initiative, the project is bringing sustainable cooking technology to scale under a market-based model.

Registered under the W+ Standard for Time Savings and Clean Energy, the project is tracking measurable outcomes as adoption expands. The expected impact is significant: thousands of households spending less time cooking, families exposed to cleaner air, and communities reducing household emissions. Together, these changes culminate in healthier homes, empowered women, and a more sustainable path for Cambodia’s future.
